During the Eye Bank Association of America\u2019s (EBAA) 2024 Annual Meeting in Kansas City, MO, AltruVision\u2019s President & CEO, James Quirk, began his two-year term as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The EBAA is the nationally recognized accrediting and standards-setting body for eye banks, whose mission is to restore sight worldwide. The Chair position is charged with setting EBAA\u2019s strategic direction and supporting the membership\u2019s ongoing innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJim is a natural leader, bringing with him over three decades of experience in eye banking and management at AltruVision,\u201d says EBAA President & CEO, Kevin Corcoran. \u201cHis prior service on EBAA committees and the Board of Directors makes him uniquely prepared to lead the association into the needs of future eye banking, corneal transplantation, and the restoration of sight.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are an estimated 12 million individuals around the world suffering from cornea blindness that could be corrected with a corneal transplant. There is no substitute for human tissue \u2014the transplantation process depends on the selfless gift of donation from one human to another. AltruVision restores sight to over 1,000 individuals each year through the healing power of cornea donation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
AltruVision is a founding member of the EBAA and has supplied tissue to more than 51,000 individuals and even more through research and education in The Delaware Valley and around the world \u2013 contributing incalculable quality of life value through the gift of sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
